A Future built on Heritage
The Pampanga Sugar Development Company (PASUDECO) was once the heart of Pampanga's sugar industry and a major driver of economic growth in Central Luzon. As the first Filipino-financed sugar company established by prominent local Kapampangan families, PASUDECO became a symbol of opportunity, livelihood, and progress for generations of Kapampangans.
After decades of operation, PASUDECO ceased sugar milling activities in 2016. The decline of the sugar industry was shaped by the long-term effects of the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo, which devastated agricultural lands across the province, as well as the rapid urbanization and shifting economic landscape of Pampanga. These changes ultimately paved the way for the site’s transformation into The Capital Town—a modern, master-planned township by Megaworld that reimagines the historic PASUDECO property while preserving its legacy as a catalyst for growth and development in the region.
